Your anger isn't the problem. Silencing it was.
The Rage Cave

9am - 3pm, Sunday September 13th - Muriwai, Auckland

You say yes when every part of you is screaming no.

You agree to things that drain you, overextend yourself for everyone else, and keep the peace while you're the one paying for it. You bend yourself into shapes that make other people comfortable, while your own needs get buried further and further down. You second guess what to say before you say it, worrying about being too much, too blunt, too selfish.

You swallow your truth and bite your tongue, because being liked has always felt safer than being honest. You don't know how to feel your emotions without it consuming you or costing you everything.

You know you're unhappy. You know you're doing too much. You know you've been disappointed, let down and harmed by people around you, but you push it down, again. You tell yourself it's fine. You tell everyone it's fine. But we both know it's not.

It's living in your jaw. Your shoulders. The headaches. The short fuse with the people you love most. You snap at your partner without meaning to, your tone doesn't match your words -  “I’m fine”. You're pissed off and you've been angry for a long time, but you don't know how to let it out without becoming the "monster" you saw growing up or see on TV.

You know these patterns don't serve you anymore. You keep doing them anyway. That's because they were never random. They were trained into you.

This is the good girl conditioning.

 Society teaches women to be agreeable, accommodating, and self-sacrificing, often at the cost of their own needs, desires, and truth. It teaches you that your worth is tied to being easy: easy to please, easy to manage, easy to love. It teaches you to choose harmony over honesty, to override your body's signals, to abandon yourself so you're never abandoned by anyone else. It teaches you that you're not allowed to be upset, to be emotional, to be "too much" and most of all, NEVER BE ANGRY...

The Rage Cave is where that conditioning comes to die.

Your anger was never the problem. Your relationship to it is.

Denying yourself of feeling and expressing your anger is not protecting anyone, but it is abandoning yourself and your truth.

Remaining disconnected from your anger, means that you will stay in relationships, dynamics and situations that do not serve you. You will settle for a life that is less than you desire because you're unable to stand up for yourself, admit that you're not okay or express your emotions. You will continue to let your anger fester.

Is that a price you're willing to pay?

This is the reclamation of your anger, your boundaries, and your power that were never supposed to leave you in the first place. It's about coming back to who you were before the world taught you to make yourself smaller. Coming back to the version of you that is unapologetic about how she feels, what she needs and who she is.

Through connection with other women, movement, music, and guided embodied practice, we'll get out of our heads and into our bodies, we will connect and express our sacred rage that we have been denying ourselves of. We will give ourselves permission to connect to the parts of us that we believe are too much or not welcome.

And through it, we will become liberated, lighter, empowered and in control of our lives.

This is where the good girl gets buried and something a lot more honest gets to breathe.
When you enter The Rage Cave, you'll experience;
  • Understand and unpack why anger feels so off bounds in the first place and discuss  where that discomfort was learned, what you were taught would happen if you expressed it, what you believe it will cost you or others.
  • Learn what anger is actually here to do: not to destroy, but to protect, to signal, to point you toward what matters. You'll come to see it as sacred, not shameful.
  • Learn what healthy anger actually looks like, and practice expressing it through tools you can take home so that you can release it through your body instead of swallowing it.
  • Be guided into a facilitated experience of connecting to your anger through your body. You will explore where it lives in your body, what happens when you let yourself stay with it, and how to connect to it without becoming engulfed by it.
  • Move anger through your body in a facilitated embodiment practice, letting it build, letting it be witnessed, and letting it transform into power and freedom.
You will leave with;
  • A new, healthier relationship with your anger, where it's no longer something you fear, suppress, or apologize for, but a source of information and power.
  • Effective ways to feel and release anger safely, whenever it shows up in your life moving forward so that you never have to suppress it or become a monster.
  • Increased resilience for discomfort in your body and emotional responses, so that you can hold yourself through it instead of abandoning yourself in it.
  • Less fear of your own emotions and the process of expressing them, now that you know just how good it feels like to express them unapologetically.
  • A felt sense for or experience of how your anger can be the catalyst for setting boundaries, for being honest, for taking action instead of something that is ignored.
